No Mounted Machine Guns in Battlefield 3

In all previous Battlefield Games, Basically all of them, Had certain points on the maps (Mostly close to the bombs or flags) machine guns that you could lay down fire to the enemy that is trying to take your flag or Bomb. Now that most weapons are able to have bipods on them then aren't much use. According to Alan Kertz these mounted machine guns wouldn't be very useful since now you can have your favorite gun in that place.

All of the Light Machine guns will be able to sport Bipods, also most Rifles will have them (Assault rifles and Sniper Rifles). Now that almost everything except for the Shotguns and Sub Machine guns have Bipods there will be no use to have an Underpowered Heavy Machine gun on the map. We will of course still have mounted TOW missiles and what not but the Machine guns will be no more. I kinda believe that this is a good move by DICE since Light Machine guns in my opinion are very under powered and to have them in the game is very useless.
