Recently, all eyes for Battlefield 3 have been on console for the most part since people have been getting them in stores early. Thus causing a big uproar in leaks in the singleplayer, to the multiplayer. But there have been some small features that some people what to know about.
One of those things is Private matches, making gamebattles quite easy as well as for just messing around with friends, it has been a staple for FPS games only recently. But Battlefield has never really have a good private match interface and it had been much unused in DICE's previous Battlefield Bad Company 2. Reasons why it wasn't used much pointed to it only supporting a minimum of 4 people on each team just to get the game started.
Well today, we know why we have never seen anything about Battlefield 3 private matches. The DICE Global Community Manager, Daniel Matros responded to a tweet asking him "make this easy.. Private matches (will/will not) be in day 1.. please chose one ;) <3 U". Daniel replied back stating, "Private matches not on launch for consoles.". This is very disappointing to hear since there are quite a few hardcore gamebattles players on console, and I don't know how they'll be able to play.
Yet, private match defiantly won't be out of the game for long. DICE will most likely updating Battlefield 3 many times next month, which will probably be when we see private matches. But PC players still have their private match and that's all that matters, right (sarcasm)?

Since I own a consol I hope they'll indeed put Private Matches in the game, it can be a lot of fun just playing around and having fun in CoD private matches. So that would be ever cooler in Battlefield 3 with all these vehicles and large maps. I also do gamebattles sometimes so hopefully they'll make BF3 private matches happen :)
They need to include private matches because it is fun running around with friends and you can learn the map faster, so please send it in an update

if they want a cult following I suggest they sort out the private matches sooner rather than later, most serious gamers are moving away from cod to battlefield and if they want to keep us there we need the competition private matches bring as well as the fun side of it
Private matches is a must have feature. I get sick and tired of playing against hackers/modders/cheaters and especially pre-pubescent snotty kids. The only time I have fun anymore is in private matches with known friends. If they don't add this feature, then once MW3 comes out, there will be no reason for me to keep this game.
Really ridiculous, that you cant play private matches; i don't even mind the minimum just get off your asses blink and ea and get it done; or your going to have blow back.
This game needs private matches get it done dice/EA.
I played BF2: Modern Combat for ps2 and you could open your own server. I aced flying a helicopter by doing that. Come on DICE, step your game up!
I am the Xbox 360 Platform Director for the competitive gaming website FraggedNation, and this is really throwing issues around with our competitions. We had a massive event that was planned for the release of this game that involved some major prizes that we can no longer host. We sincerely hope that DICE does indeed come out with a Private Match system in the next set of updates. Nice article!

Great game! You want to make it a perfect game add the private match feature. I agree with what someone above stated "if they want a cult following I suggest they sort out the private matches sooner rather than later". Remamber, COD's release is just around the corner!
This game needs the private matches. It's the best game for me right now and playing online is simply awesome. My friends and I really enjoy playing all together and we do not meet the required 8 players to start a private match on BF:BC2. It is quite disappointing. If they take off the required 8 players and have private matches on Battlefield 3 this game will be more superior to any other fps out there.
Dice/EA should take off the required 8 players to start a private match. Please push this issue away. At least allow the console users to be able to host a private match from their console and not from EA servers.
A whole crew of us bought BF3 the other day. 15 of us. We went online.. realized the game has no private matches. Now we're all pissed and we're all selling the game. Huge fail. HUGE.
Xbox's probably wont be able to run the game and a private match together with others in very well. The limitation of 8 players is fine just please bring the Private Matches in i would like to be able to do training with clan mates and fight in Gamebattles. Yet I would not sell the game for a ridiculous reason as the other guy posted simple to say your all losers for selling it for a pathetic reason also COD is pathetic and should no longer be milked it got rubbish after cod4, they should of stopped now it sucks so forget about mw3 it will suck aswell.
personally, at times i just want 1 v 1. playing a recon vs recon session (no hud) w/ my wife and hunting her down for the kill in a silent dust flying war-torn atmosphere can be a horrifically fun heart thumping encounter! (especially now w/ frostbite 2)
BF3 needs private matches, no 2 ways about it!
Lets face it...Its a war between battlefield 3, and Cod 3. Its all about opinion. Although there are differences between battlefield and cod. Battlefield has vehicles, huge maps, and better graphics. Cod runs smoother, user friendly gun customization, and then PRIVATE MATCHES! If battlefield wants to win a part of this war..They will also need private matches. Hopefully this patch isnt long from now. Many MLG gamers have moved from COD to Battlefield, they will move back asap if there is no private matches in the next week. No doubt about it. (I am one of them.)

I would like private games with no minimum player limit just so i can learn the maps, plus flight controls etc.

This IS effin lame! Private matches are huge with not so good gamers like myself. It sucks to have no other option but to jump online and get your ass handed to you every game. Being able to have a private match with my other not so good gamer friends is not only a better experience, but the only way to improve. You can't improve much if all you can do is run around and get shot. How can you learn to fly a heli if you can't even get to it without dying? As a software developer myself, I understand why it is not in the game. Shipping the game on time is key in this release if they want to get a leg up on the COD release coming out in a couple weeks. As the shipping deadline approaches, if development of certain features are not complete, developers are forced to either cut them from the game or push out the ship date. Investors and stakeholders don't give a shit about features but they do care about shipping on time an seeing the money start rolling in. It is a case of prioritizing shipping on time over features. In my opinion they put investors over customers but that is how most companies operate these days.
I play on 360..my PC isn't powerful enough..I would really love to play roll playing games on BF3 like cops and robbers..you know what im talking about..alot of the stuff we used to play in Halo and other FPS..Cod is fail (just tossing it out there)..anyways I would enjoy it and so will every last person who bought the game..please dice we are getting on our knees for this one.
So sad there is no private matches for less than 8 players, looks are clan will be trading this in for COD. Please sort this out!!!!
EAandDice really dropped the ball on this key feature. Especially since they put high ranked players in the same matches as low ranked ones. Low ranked players have a really frustrating time trying to figure out the controls and gameplay because they are getting too beat up by the high ranked ones. They also did a crappy job of educating the players on controls and how to use the equipment. Some of the special equipment shows on screen instruction and some doesn't. Feels like they put the A art team and the B programmers and project managers on this game. I too am probably going to recommend COD over BF to my friends.
Urgh really annoying my friend just got bf3 as his first FPS and doesn't know how to fly the aircraft And such like.........,,, we got 6 other people to make a private match to teach him and then we discovered there were none..... DICE sort it out or all my friends will kill me because they bought the game so we could much around as friends. Also we all agree if this game sucks we will never buy another DICE/EA game again
BF3 is a fuckin cool game,it wins MW3 on almost all aspects, just one missing... PRIVATE MATCHES!!!!! MW3 will be way cooler then BF3 if they don't include PRIVATE MATCHES in the next update. i'm not gonna sell BF3 but i will recomend MW3 to my friends instead of BF3 (unless they fix it) ....

Bullshit about MW3 , i lost my clan because of black ops we couldn't get 4 of us in 1 game and took them 6 months to sort . i wont be rushing out to pay £45 for another map upgrade because thats what MW3 is and lets face it people 2 weeks after mW3 will know all the camping spots ,

No Private Match option in BF3!?! Now with MW3 just a few days away (with a Private Match option), everyone's going to stop playing BF3 and trade it in. Sure, a Private Match update is coming, but it should've been done at launch.
EA and DICE....if you want to be some sort of competition with COD games, you need to have a Private Match option ASAP. I've been playing BF3 for several weeks now and can't learn the game because expert players keep preventing that from happening.

Well even though the private match feature is missing doesnt nearly mean COD is better. Its the different aspects that makes one better than the other. grow up people. its more than likely DICE will add it. Battlefield is a great team based game. COD is a good one man army game. Honestly find something better to cry about. Because if thats what you QQ about then go to MW3. Battlefield doesnt need people like you. I cant wait for this feature so my clan can play together with ease and compete in GM and MLG but im not going to cry over it. It will be sorted out in time. Oh and btw, if all you cry babies think you can do a better job, Ill be waiting on your best selling game to hit the shelves.
Dice, listen here to a little story: There once was a boy who owned an original xbox console. He didn't have many games, or much money, but he finally scratched up enough to buy a great game named BF:MC2. He played it, loved it, but it still seemed to lack something. That something was cured when he was invited to start a clan with another boy. The other boy and his friends were veterans to the game and took me in. We played Clan matches on dedicated servers... there were leaderboards in-game that told wins-losses- and overall score. The clan grew, we climbed to the top of the clan leaderboards, held 2nd place only under a boosting clan, but we didn't care. We knew we were the best because if someone thought otherwise we would fight them, and we would win. When the introduction of the xbox360 came, we were quick to move to it, reaching once again within the top 10 all time most winning clans.
We would continue to play the same maps with the same weapons over and over. We didn't mind though, we loved every moment of it because we knew every minute of experience would play off in clan matches.
However, when we heard of the wondrous new game play experience that the frostbite engine could deliver in Bad Company 1, the whole clan, the whole community was ecstatic. We couldn't believe how this new innovation would change Clan games. The beta came, I finished it in 15th total place by the end. I couldn't wait. I got the game, put it in, and lo, NO CLAN SERVERS. I was heartbroken, we all hoped for a patch, a private match, SOMETHING. But nothing ever came.
We all once again fell in love with the battlefield series with the information that BF 1943 would have "clan support" We all practiced, made a game battles account, and tried to play. The servers didn't work, after 10 tries it finally worked, we played and won... but the other team reported to CB that they had won. This happened time after time, after a month of hard work to even get matches, Gamebattles suht down the 1943 leaderboards, and all was lost. We all longed for real clan servers again.
Part 2:
Bad Company 2 came out, once again offering crappy gamebattles, and once again after many attempts to get into the crappy private servers, Gamebattles records were erased. This is the point in which we gave up hope. Our Clan disbanded keeping only me and three or so of the leaders as close friends, the same guys from so many years ago on BF:MC2, three BF titles, and a console change, and we still had hope to play as a clan again.
At the announcement of BF3 coming, none of us were hopeful that there would be any clan gameplay, so we looked at the game with a bat of an eye, "just another shooter" we all said. However, we were again revitalized at the announcement of "platoons" claiming to be a competitive way to match yourself against other groups.
We thought our salvation had come at last!!! I pre-ordered the game reading from other excited fans that platoons would be the new "clans"
Once again, to my disgust, The news came out that it was no such thing. A meaningless ploy to get clan players interested in the BF series again. I stopped playing the game with such haste because I knew the fun wouldn't last. I would grow board of the repetitive gameplay, no matter how much I would conquer it.
It is a good game, but to be honest, I would choose my fond memories as a child playing with a group of buds for an honest competitive game then have to take this pile. I would... But the servers were shut down for both original and 360 versions.
I am now a man, not the boy I once was. I'm going out of state for college next year, and BF3 was my last hope to re-play my fond childhood memories of Clan matches with my friends.
Don't you people understand? That is what made your game great, the community.
sure you can mad money by making a good game like BF3, but with a little more effort, you can change millions of kid's lives.
Call me dramatic, but if you had lived through the glory days like I once had, you would be writing a huge paper praying for a change on a form too.

tbh i honestly think DICE completely fucked console players... i meen we payed the same as pc players.. yet they get private match and more players and bigger maps.. not necisarily bigger but less flags and vehicles.. why would they pump every1 up and then release the game and completely bite the hand that feeds them??? because console players sales make up for most of their franchise.. also why cant we have 64 players in a game on console??? MAG has 256 and its on PS3.. we can land a goddamn man on the moon in the 60's but we cant put 64 ppl in a video game?? really??
