Today we found out that the newly announced map for Battlefield 3 'Damavand Peak' will have a really cool way of spawning in for attackers on rush mode. Instead of in say Bad Company 2 on 'Port Valdez' or 'Nelson Bay' were you spawned in a parachuted down, there will be a different way of spawning in, Base Jumping!
Yesterday when DICE released two screenshots of this map no one really though of how you would get down to the landscape below the peak, and heck, I didn't even notice there was a bottom level and in my mind the fighting would all be on the peak. But you will Base jump 500 meters right into the battlefield, I'm sure though you wont be right in the battle when you get down but fairly close.
This will be a great part of the map and really showoff the power of Frostbite 2. As you can see by the screenshot DICE released you can clearly tell that the area is a deployment area. With the helicopter pad pointing to at least one chopper for each team and a Little bird since there is a smaller helicopter pad as well. And I'm guessing this map will only showcase helicopters unless when you advance land vehicles spawn.
But this base jumping most likely wont be just for rush mode, but also conquest and maybe some other game modes since all Battlefield modes use fixed deployment points except for Squad deathmatch and were not sure how the Battlefield 3 team deathmatch will play out.
But putting what game modes it will be in aside, base jumping will defiantly be a cool thing added to the Battlefield experience. I hope we get some more little 'cosmetic surprises' to find out about in either the next couple days or when the game is shipped.
