Wondering why you HD textures on your Xbox 360 aren't looking as good as when you first got them? Did you install Battlefield 3 to your hard drive? Well thats what I've experienced and it is really strange. I noticed it but I didn't really know if it was just my eyes or a real problem until doctor3d posted on the Battlelog forums that it is an actual problem.
He said "If you install the game disc, it will screw up some of the HD textures." and he also added, "No matter which way you do it, first or after installing the HD pack,
you lose some of the textures. For whatever reason this game looks MUCH
better when you only have the HD pack installed." This is a very big problem that DICE claims they are looking into now after doctor3d has reported it.
The quality of the game go in order like this:
- No HD Textures Installed – Lowest Quality (Bad Textures, Massive Pop-ins)
- Everything Installed – Good Quality (Some HD Textures are missing and\or less Sharp)
- Only HD Installed – Highest Quality (Walls, Floors, and entities have a sharper appearance)
This means that it won't screw up all of the textures, but some textures are missing making the game much less sharp and overall doesn't look as good with full HD textures. For example, doctor3d says that "The newspapers laying on the ground in Seine
Crossing -- You can read them without the game installed, and can only
read the headline when the game is installed." Since it is really that bad, he has found a way to troubleshoot this problem.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Delete Disc 1
- Delete Disc 2
- Delete Update
- Delete HD Textures
- Clear System Cache
- Restart Xbox
- Launch BF3
- Install Update when Prompted
- Install HD Textures
- Play
But when we tried these steps to get full HD Textures back the game looked extremely better then before Textures load faster and when you watch your killer after you have died the player looks exceptionally better. Yet, if you are impressed with the current graphics and textures of BF3 on Xbox 360 then I would just leave Battlefield 3 alone and wait until DICE straightens this problem out so you can save some trouble.
Tell us what you think about this problem and if you tried this and it looked much better than before in the comments below.

Hmm, wasn't this the same with Skyrim when you installed it to your Xbox 360? :p well, I only own a PS3 so :) although I would like better performance and shorter load times, I'm fine with no HDD installing.
T
he PS3 does generally have more bugs in multiplatform games though I think, more lag and stuff.
Yep I tried and textures load very fast looks better. Dice should repair it
