BF3: Back to Karkand in 4K Resolution

There has been a ton of stunt videos coming out for Battlefield 3 lately, but none so like these. It's not as much about the stunts, but the fact that is was somehow recorded in 4K quality, 4K Quality is otherwise (if you don't know much about video production), known as the quality used for Hollywood movies we see today.

But sadly, most computers can't run this high quality of video. So hopefully you all have crazy good computers to get to watch it in its best. Tell us what you think about these videos in the comments below. Have a nice day and happy holidays!

Make sure that you change the quality to "original" to get best quality.

Battlefield 3: 500 Limited Edtion Lithographs on Sale; DICE Store 50% Off Sale

Ever looked up at your wall and thought, "hey, there needs to be a Battlefield 3 poster there"? Well this is your lucky day. But instead of a poster you would hang up there, it would be a signed and numbered, limited edition BF3 lithograph. Not only will you have a wall filler, but you also have a near one in a kind poster as well. Check out pictures of the lithographs and DICE store sale after the break.

The print measures 610mm x 460mm (24" x 18") and is printed on 300g high quality Heaven 42 stock. Our lithographs are plastic wrapped and delivered in extra wide tubes.
Also, DICE is holding a 50% off sale on selected items until January 16th! Happy shopping!

Battlefield 3: Mystery Easter Egg on Back to Karkand

FPSWin found another strange Easter egg on Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand Gulf of Oman, but this time it isn't a dinosaur, but a strange figure. There are numbers people saying its a man reading a book, others jokingly (hopefuly) say that it looks like someone with a gun, fending of a dino.
I still haven't figured out what it really looks like. Tell us in the comments below what you think this mysterious thing is. Have a nice day and happy holidays!

How to Make Battlefield 3 Look Better

FPSwin found a post on reddit, with instructions on how to make Battlefield 3 look overall graphically better. This includes changing Wake Island from its gloominess, to the beautiful place it actually is even in Wartime. This is only for PC, so if your on console then you will have to wait until DICE comes to their senses and make Wake Island look regular again.

Instructions:

1) Firstly Battlefield 3 Colours speak for itself are incredibly dull as shown here :

2) Secondly you would want something like this as shown here:

This is how you do it in no particular order:

For NVIDIA cards,

  • Go to your control panel and go to Adjust desktop color settings
  • Move the tab in Digital Vibrance towards, ideally, 100% or any other you fill comfortable with.

For AMD cards (correct me if I’m wrong),

  • Go to My Digital Flat-Panels and click on Display Color and adjust the saturation bar.

Next:

  • Put them in the Battlefield 3 main folder
  • However this is not enough. Go into the injFX_Settings.h file and edit with Notepad (or better Notepad++) and change the saturation under tonemap (scroll or find with Crtl+F) and change that to 1.5-2.0

Highly recommended - I have experimented with different settings and numbers for the best possible look (I just realised it was way better)

If you did it correctly than you would ideally have something like this:

My graphical settings: http://i.imgur.com/Ux3Yo.jpg. Also, psychological problems made me put AA Post on High although it isn’t necessary.

Battlefield 2143 Hinted in Battlefield 3 Easter Egg

Today BF3Blog found a Easter egg on Wake Island that could hint us at DICE's next Battlefield game. Printed on the side of a HESCO Bastion (Picture below if you don't recognize the name of this device), is the number "2143", most likely translating into Battlefield: 2143
HESCO Bastion
DICE is known for putting many Easter eggs in their games either for fun, or to hint upcoming games. Such as when they put Easter eggs on Battlefield 2: Euro Forces and Armored Fury Expansions, hinting at Battlefield: 2142. Which as we now know did come true years later.

Another hint that Battlefield: 2143 will be the next game in the Battlefield series is a pattern that DICE potentially is taking. A core Battlefield game, a 2100s game, one or two Bad company games, then repeat. For all we know this might be what DICE is trying to accomplish.

Only in the next year or two will we find out if this Easter egg really hints us to the announcement of Battlefield: 2143. Follow our RSS feed, Facebook, or Twitter to see what else we uncover from this mystery. Have a nice day and happy holidays!

Battlefield 3: Comrose Coming to Consoles?

Comrose is on PC, a all-in-one tool. You can use it for callouts such as "give me some ammo!" or "I need a medic!" so players can communicate simply to get help. Yet, on console you can just press the 'start' button when your near teammates with for example, ammo, and he will--if anywhere near smart-- throw you a ammo crate.

Now, Thomas Danko, VO Producer at DICE, was recently asked if the comrose would possibly make it to consoles. He replied by saying, "it’s a matter of finding an unused button on the controller…", which is a very positive statement. But if it does come, it might be a combination of two buttons making it difficult for some people to master.

Nevertheless, if the comrose does come to consoles, it will be one useful tool for some people. Tell us what you think about comrose on consoles in the comments below. Check out earlier Battlefield 3 news! Back to Karkand out; Physical Warfare Pack Free + More

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand Release Times; R12 Server Release

As many of you may know, tomorrow is the release date for Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand on the Xbox 360 and PC. Today we got all the information on release times and info for server owners on the R12 release. All of these things are listed below:

B2K Release Schedule

13th December
  • Xbox 360: starting at 09:00 GMT (1am PST / 4am EST)
  • PC digital: starting at 08:00 GMT (12am PST / 3am EST)

15th December
  • PC code in a box
BF3 PC Server R12

BF3 PC Server R12 will be released on Tuesday, due next Tuesday. Exact timing to be confirmed; I will update this post once it is confirmed.

We will have a downtime for the master servers. The RSPs will begin updating their game servers at this point. Those admins which have had their servers updated to R12 can then add the Back to Karkand maps to the map rotation.

There will not be any client update - all that was taken care of last week.

Server R12 manual is available here [static.cdn.ea.com]

Changelog
* General crashfixes
* Fixed problem where kits would remain on the level for a long time (>10 minutes); this would eventually make the server keel over
* The Back to Karkand maps are included

Notice that there are two variations on the Conquest gamemode. The differences are mainly to do with the flags. You will see a "#2" after the map name for a server that runs the second Conquest variation.

Game servers can mix and match B2K and non-B2K maps. Players who have not purchased B2K will be warned if they attempt to join a server with B2K maps in the rotation. Quickmatch will not send those players to servers with B2K maps in the rotation either. The guiding principle here is: if possible, avoid having people get kicked from servers.

Battlefield 3: T-Rex Easter Egg on Wake Island

Ever since a couple months ago, when Gustav Halling tweeted the 4chan post by activision, with trolls saying MW2 needed dinosaurs, after that people have been obsessed with imaginary game modes like dino survival mode, ect. But the T-rex has still been part of the game, with your character holding it in the beginning scene of Thunder Run on Single-player, or with the dog tags or xbox avatar prop.

But now the T-rex is actually in the game, no, not as in a real one, but a toy one on the shores of Wake Island as a Easter Egg for Back to Karkand. It can be interesting to look at, but nothing you can gain from finding it. Just another addition to the game to make you smile a bit. Tell us what you think about this little Easter egg in the comments below. Have a nice day!

Battlefield 3: All Known Back to Karkand Easter Eggs

Since the released of PS3 Back to Karkand expansion, people have randomly found some Easter eggs on some of the maps. While we have not uncovered all of them, and you can email video to us at news[at]battlefieldlog.com, we have found some interesting ones that we would like to show you.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand Wake Island Veteran Monument

Since Back to Karkand has been released on PS3 we have learned a lot about the maps. But this is a little interesting. Players have found a monument on the map reading,
“To those who fought here in 1942, BF2, 2142, and 1943 we are grateful”
  -DICE
This is really nice for DICE to add this in the game to thank the players that have been with them since the beginning. Tell us what you think about this in the comments below. Have a nice game day!

Battlefield 3: Aftershock - iOS Preview

Joystiq recently got to play Battlefield 3: Aftershock, the iOS version of Battlefield 3. As of now the game is in alpha stage and decent graphics for an iOS game. Even though iOS defiantly won't be bringing in the majority of DICE's cash, but surly can bring people playing on iOS to the series on console or PC.
Right now, there really isn't a game plan for Battlefield 3 on iOS. Full multiplayer support over WiFi and local wireless have made it into EA's admittedly vague hopes for the game, and the publisher is also toying with a dual currency scheme -- grind currency (your time) and premium currency (your money). Ideally, in-game currency would unlock different kits and weapons.

Players will have persistent gear and levels, much like Battlefield 3 proper -- but most of the menus I saw had placeholder art and descriptions, so it's hard to be sure of what will be in the final product.

It's fairly certain that Battlefield 3: Aftershock will have separate single-player and multiplayer components, kind of like what was on offer in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on iOS. There will be a campaign mode that plays like Horde in Gears of War (e.g. waves of enemies come and you shoot them), but the multiplayer scope this time is a bit bigger. Battlefield 3: Aftershock will have a competitive multiplayer experience that aims to be on-par with its console brethren, but it wasn't available for me to check out, sadly. Read more...

Battlelog App on iOS Soon; Other Mobile Platforms in Future

Battlelog has been a success for DICE and many people have been begging for a mobile version to show off their stats on the go. DICE has recently stated on twitter that "iOS will see it soon. Android, Blackberry, and Windows may see it yet in the future." DICE has also been stating when the question about the app is brought up that it is still in development, meaning that even if they finished now, it would still take a couple of days for the app to be approved by Apple, Google, ect.

A Battlelog app will defiantly be a useful piece of utility when released, but for now, you can just use the desktop version of the utility if your really dying to get it on your iDevice or Android.
